Life of St. Anthony
Editorial Reviews
This is the story of a young medieval Portuguese nobleman who gave up a promising future in his own familiar world to become a scholar and evangelist. Following an inner desire for martyrdom, he became a Friar Minor, a Franciscan. His name was friar Anthony, known throughout the world as St. Anthony of Padua.
The author, a lifelong scholar of the life and teachings of Saint Anthony, offers an interesting account of the miracles he performed and describes the widespread popular devotion to the Saint. His description of the beautiful natural setting of the story is enriched by his own personal Franciscan experience.
